At Surisan, we serve an inspired blend of traditional
and modern Korean cuisine
Located in the center of San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf district, our heart is a savory Asian-inspired American comfort breakfast and brunch, with our soul being innovative Korean dinners. We combine young creative chefs, top-quality, locally-sourced organic ingredients and relaxed indoor and outdoor dining spaces to create a haven for people who love great food, drink and service. Led in the kitchen by Executive Chef Nick Yoon and in the front of the house by James Choi, together, we aim to provide uncompromised experiences for the diner.
One of the few spots in the area not aimed at tourists, Surisan is named for a mountain in Korea near where we grew up. It is the latest addition to our family of Bay Area restaurants, including San Francisco’s Sweet Maple, Blackwood, Kitchen Story, Taylor Street Cafe, plus Fred’s in Sausalito, Kitchen Sunnyside in Mill Valley and the Berkeley Social Club.
Surisan's modern interior can accommodate parties of any size. Our spacious outdoor dining deck and bar allows diners to watch the cable cars go by and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Wharf as they eat. Undoubtedly, though, the focal point of the restaurant is the food, showcasing memorable dishes we hope San Francisco eaters will savor and enjoy.
Sincerely,
Steven and Jiyeon Choi, Owners

NICK YOON
Executive Chef
Nick Yoon is a culinary artist in the land of innovative food science. Drawing on more than fifteen years experience at world-renowned hotels and restaurants including the Ritz Carlton, JW Marriott, The President Hotel, and Namu at the W Hotel, Nick specializes in Korean, Japanese and new American Cuisine.
Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, Nick developed a passion and talent for cooking as a teenager and Nick’s father advised him to pursue his culinary dreams. After working in some of the top restaurants in South Korea, his ambitions led him to California where he ran Sushi Boat, Fuji and most recently Izakaya Kou. Now, five years later, he continues to delight the refined palates of the Bay Area with his purist style of contemporary Asian cuisine, drawing influence from his greatest mentors, Philip Lee, Edward Kwon and the notable Nobu Matsuhisa.
The ease and continuity of Nick’s dishes are as much a feast for the eyes and spirit as they are for the appetite. We invite you to taste his stories at Surisan.
